The Military Wives Choirs Foundation is looking to recruit a strong strategic thinker and leader to be the Chair of Trustees and to take us on the next stage of our journey at the charity.
The Military Wives Choirs network brings women in the military community closer together through singing. Being part of the network of some 74 Military Wives Choirs around the UK and abroad makes a positive difference by improving well-being, building friendships and developing skills. Trustees work to strengthen and sustain our network of choirs for the benefit of generations to come, wherever our Armed Forces and their families are based.
If you have a passion for, and empathise with, our aim to improve the lives of women in the military community through singing, then consider leading the Board to deliver change for choir members.
As the Chair of the Board you will share legal responsibility for the charity, ensuring that it is solvent, well-run and delivering on its charitable outcomes for which it has been set up. To do this, you will use your personal skills and experience as needed to ensure that the charity is well managed, efficient and effective.
At this stage, we require a copy of your CV and a one page letter describing your interest in the charity and what you will bring to the leadership of the Board.
We will then be in touch to arrange a discussion. Board members are currently required to attend at least two meetings in London per annum, the others can be attended via conference call. Reasonable expenses will be paid.
Closing date for applications: Midnight, Sunday 12th November 2017
Interview dates: Mornings of 23rd and 30th November 2017

On this Armistice Day, Military Wives Choirs across the UK and overseas are performing at services in their local communities, acknowledging this poignant occasion. Music played an important role during World War 1, both in the trenches and back at home. It was extremely important for the troops, who would sing for solidarity and to […]
We’re absolutely delighted to be able to share the music video to ‘Brave’! Featuring the fab and incredibly supportive Laura Wright who co-wrote the song, we visited three military bases from across the services to demonstrate the very real and present-day aspect of life in the military community for our choir members, whilst recognising the women of […]
On 28th June 2018, we had an incredible evening to celebrate the release of the Military Wives Choirs new album, ‘Remember’, hosted at the London Scottish. Featuring a stunning performance from 100 choir members from 35 different Military Wives Choirs and representing the MWC network of ‘The Poppy Red’ and joined by co-writer and soprano […]
Today is a very special day for the Royal Air Force (RAF). To mark the service’s 100 years, a formation of one hundred aircraft from different eras of its history flew over central London in an iconic centenary flypast. Congratulations to all those across the RAF network who have been involved! It’s a particularly proud […]
“Perhaps it will brighten the dark moments a little to think how you have meant to someone more than anything ever has or ever will. What you have striven for will not end in nothing, all that you have done and been will not be wasted, for it will be a part of me as […]
